♦   RAINFALL: Rain/thundershowers occurred at most places over  coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Odisha; at many places over  rest  Odisha   at  a  few  places  over   Chhattisgarh,  Jharkhand,  east Madhya Pradesh, Telangana,   Rayalaseema   and   Kerala:   at   isolated   places  over   Karnataka,   Tamilnadu, Marathawada  and   Vidarbha. Weather remained mainly dry/dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (2 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: 
Chandbali­7;   Bhubaneshwar­6;   Machilipatanam   and   Puri­5   each;   Kalingapatnam   and Vishakhapatnam­4 each;   Narsapur, Kakinada   and Salem­3 each; Ramagundam, Daltonganj, Gopalpur and Agumbe­2 each.

♦  Temperatures: Maximum temperatures were below normal by 4­6°C at many  places over coastal   Andhra   Pradesh,   Telangana,   Odisha:   by   2­3°C   at   many   places   over   west   Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand and at a few  places over Haryana, Bihar, Gujarat region and north interior Karnataka.  They were  above normal by 2­3°C  over at a few places Jammu & Kashmir,Assam & Meghalaya ,Saurashtra & Kutch and Tamilnadu and nearly normal over rest parts of the country.

♦  Kalpana­1: Cloud imagery at 0530  hours IST shows convective clouds over most parts of Andhra Pradesh and  some parts of north interior Karnataka, north Tamilnadu, coastal Odisha, south Chhattisgarh, Gangetic west Bengal, west Bay of Bengal and eastcentral & southeast Arabian sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over rest parts of the country outside Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.

Weather remained mainly dry/dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (2 cm or more) recorded at  1730 hours IST of yesterday were:  Kalingapatnam­9; Nellore­7; Bankura­6; Dharmapuri, Kakinada, Bhubaneshwar­4 each; Hutbay, Kavali, Tondi, Vishakhapatnam, Raipur, Ongole­3 each and Noncowry, Carnicobar and Bangalore­2 each.

 Cyclone Alert for Andhra Pradesh and Orissa-India:

The deep depression over North Andaman Sea moved west-northwestwards and crossed Andaman Islands near Mayabandar between 1230 and 1330 hrs IST and lay centred at 1430 hrs IST of today, 09thth October 2013 over east central Bay of Bengal near latitude 13.50N and longitude 92.50E, and about 220 km north-northwest of Port Blair, 950km southeast of Paradip, 1100 km east-southeast of Visakhapatnam. The system would intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 12 hours and continue to move west-northwestwards for some time and then northwestwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast between Kalingapatnam and Paradip by night of 12thth October, 2013 as a very severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 175-185 kmph.

Under the influence of this system, rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places and isolated extremely heavy falls (≥ 25cm) would occur over Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 24 hrs. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur in subsequent 24 hrs.

Squally winds speed reaching 50-60kmph gusting to 70 kmph would prevail over Andaman Nicobar Islands and adjoining sea areas during next 36 hours. Sea condition will be very rough along and off Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 36 hrs.

Damage expected over Andaman and Nicobar Islands Damage to thatched huts. Breaking of tree branches causing minor damage to power and communication lines.

Action suggested.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into Andaman sea and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal during next 48 hrs. Fishermen out at sea along north AP, Odisha and West Bengal coast are advised to return to coast.
