♦   Yesterday,  southwest   monsoon   was  vigorous  over   Gujarat   region   and   Vidarbha   and  active  over Chhattisgarh. 

RAINFALL: Rain/thundershowers occurred at a few places over Madhya Pradesh, Madhya  Maharashtra  and  coastal  Karnataka  and  at  isolated   places  over  east Rajasthan, Gujarat  region,  south Konkan & Goa, Meghalaya  and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Weather remained mainly dry/dry over rest parts of the country. The amounts of rainfall (1 cm or more) recorded at 1730  hours IST  of  yesterday were: Pachmarhi  and Angul  ­3  each; Kota,  Jabalpur,   Ujjain, Gandhinagar, Canning,   Chittorgarh   and   Nasik­2   each;   Ahmadabad,   Baroda,   Surat,   Indore,   Champa,   Hoshangabad, ,Surendranagar, Vengurla, Jalgaon, Midnapore, Shirali, Sagar and Goa­1 each.

TEMPERATURES: Maximum temperatures were below normal by 2­5°C over  many parts of northwest, central & adjoining peninsular India. They were above normal by 5­6°C over some parts of east Assam and by 2­4°C over some parts of western Himalayan region, east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, rest northeastern states and near normal over rest parts of the country.

♦   Kalpana­1: Cloud  imagery  at 0530  hours IST  shows  convective  clouds over  some parts of Gujarat, southwest Madhya Pradesh, north Madhya Maharashtra, eastcentral Bay of Bengal  and north Andaman Sea. Low/Medium clouds are seen over rest parts of the country outside Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal & Sikkim.
