Weather News India 5 August 2013 Rainfall Forecast Report


♦  Southwest monsoon was active over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, south interior Karnataka and Kerala.

♦  RAINFALL: Rain/thundershower occurred at many places along west coast; at a few places over Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha and Lakshadweep; at isolated places over   west Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya and Tamilnadu and weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (1 cm or more) recorded at 0830 hours IST of yesterday were: Majbat­5; Thiruvanathapuram, Medikeri, Agumbe, Kottayam and Palakkad­ 4 each; Satara, Mahabaleshwar, Narsapur, Dharmshala, Kochi, Allapuzha and Bhavnagar­3  each; Minicoy, Valpari,  Champa  and Shirali­2  each; Kalingapatnam, Madurai, Haldia, Honavar, Kanniyakumari, Umaria, Goa, Bareilly, Bhira, Bhubaneshwar, Dehradun and Punalur­1 each.

TEMPERATURES: Yesterday, maximum temperatures were above normal by 4­5°C over some parts of  Bihar, West Bengal & Sikkim and Assam; by 2­3°C over many parts of Western Himalayan  region, Uttar Pradesh, rest east & northeastern states and some parts of Tamilnadu. They were below normal by about 2.0°C over some parts of south Rajasthan, north Gujarat and Kerala and nearly normal over  rest of the
country. 

♦  Kalpana­1: Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh,  Uttarakhand,  north Haryana,  east Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar,  northeast Jharkhand, Sub­Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, northeastern states, south Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Bay of Bengal, Andaman  sea  and  Lakshadweep area. Low/ medium  clouds are  seen over  rest  parts  of the
country.
