♦ Southwest monsoon was active over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, south interior Karnataka and Kerala.
♦ RAINFALL: Rain/thundershower occurred at many places along west coast; at a few places over Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha and Lakshadweep; at isolated places over west Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya and Tamilnadu and weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (1 cm or more) recorded at 0830 hours IST of yesterday were: Majbat5; Thiruvanathapuram, Medikeri, Agumbe, Kottayam and Palakkad 4 each; Satara, Mahabaleshwar, Narsapur, Dharmshala, Kochi, Allapuzha and Bhavnagar3 each; Minicoy, Valpari, Champa and Shirali2 each; Kalingapatnam, Madurai, Haldia, Honavar, Kanniyakumari, Umaria, Goa, Bareilly, Bhira, Bhubaneshwar, Dehradun and Punalur1 each.
♦ TEMPERATURES: Yesterday, maximum temperatures were above normal by 45°C over some parts of Bihar, West Bengal & Sikkim and Assam; by 23°C over many parts of Western Himalayan region, Uttar Pradesh, rest east & northeastern states and some parts of Tamilnadu. They were below normal by about 2.0°C over some parts of south Rajasthan, north Gujarat and Kerala and nearly normal over rest of the
country.
♦ Kalpana1: Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, north Haryana, east Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, northeast Jharkhand, SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, northeastern states, south Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Bay of Bengal, Andaman sea and Lakshadweep area. Low/ medium clouds are seen over rest parts of the
country.
