Weather News India 29 August 2013 Rainfall Forecast Report


♦ Southwest monsoon  was vigorous over west Uttar Pradesh and active over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Gangetic west Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, east Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. 

RAINFALL: Rain/thundershowers occurred at many places over east   Uttar Pradesh,  Bihar,   east  Madhya Pradesh,   Chhattisgarh,   Odisha, West  Bengal &  Sikkim,  Assam & Meghalaya; at a few places over western Himalayan region, Konkan & Goa, northcoastal Andhra Pradesh and Arunachal   Pradesh   and  at   isolated   places over   west   Madhya   Pradesh,   Telangana,   Tamilnadu   and Lakshadweep. Weather   remained mainly dry over rest of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (2 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were:  Dharmshala­6; Tehri­5; Haldia, Una and Vishakhapatnam­ 4 each; Kolkata, Bhagalpur, Bilaspur, Diamond Harbour and Mandya­3 each; Mukteshwar, Champa, Canning and Najibabad, Midnapore, Guwahati and Behraich­2 each.

TEMPERATURES: Maximum temperatures were below normal  by 4­6°C over some parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha; by 2­3°C over Jammu & Kashmir, west Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, rest Chhattisgarh & Odisha, north Andhra Pradesh and isolated pockets of Assam. They were below normal by about 2°C over some parts of extreme south peninsular India  and nearly normal over rest of the country.

♦   Kalpana­1:  Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of   Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh,   Madhya Pradesh,  Chhattisgarh,  south Andhra Pradesh, Vidarbha,  south Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu, northwest Bay of Bengal, south Andaman sea and eastcentral Arabian sea.  Low/medium clouds are
seen over rest parts of the country outside Haryana, west Rajasthan and Gujarat.
