Weather India 22 May 2013 Rainfall Forecast Report


TEMPERATURES: Severe heat wave conditions prevailed over many parts of Punjab and some parts of north Rajasthan and Haryana. Heat wave conditions also prevailed over most parts of Delhi, north Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and interior Odisha and some parts of south Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Marathawada, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Maximum temperatures of more than 47.0°C recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Chandrapur48.2, Bramhapuri47.8, Nagpur47.8, Banda47.6, Ganganagar47.5, Wardha47.5, Churu47.2, Nowgong47.2 and Khajuraho47.2.

RAINFALL: Rainfall/thundershowers occurred at most places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Light rain/thundershowers also occurred at one or two places over Sikkim, coastal Gangetic west Bengal and north coastal Odisha. Weather remained mainly dry over rest of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (1 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of today were: Mayabandar8; Long Island4 and Berhampore, Carnicobar, Cherapunji and Bhawanipatna1 each.

CLOUDS: Kalpana1 Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of SubHimalayan West Bengal, Mizoram, Tripura, south & adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal, Andaman sea and southeast Arabian sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over parts of Western Himalayan region, east & peninsular India, Chhattisgarh and rest northeastern States.
