TEMPERATURES: Minimum temperatures are below normal by 23° C over some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, south interior Karnataka and north Tamilnadu. They are above normal by 25° C over many parts of Rajasthan, interior Maharashtra, east Uttar Pradesh, north Andhra Pradesh and central, east & northeast India and near normal over rest parts of the country. The lowest minimum temperature of 5.4°C has been recorded at Hissar (Haryana) in the plains of the country.
RAINFALL: Rain/snow occurred at many places over western Himalayan region. Rain has occurred at many places over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and north Chhattisgarh; at a few places over Haryana, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh; at one or two places Punjab, east Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The significant amounts of rainfall (cm) recorded at 0830 hrs. IST of today are: Diamond Harbour8, Midnapore and Haldia5 each, Uluberia, Canning, Balasore and Kolkata (Alipore)3 each; Digha, Kolkata (DumDum), Jamshedpur, Bankura, Itanagar and Una2 each and Champa, Ambikapur, Ranchi, Sundernagar, Mukteshwar, Tehri and Shantiniketan and Jamshedpur 1 each.
CLOUDS: Kalpana1: Cloud imagery at 0830 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of Jammu & Kashmir, northeastern states, south Andaman Sea adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal and south Arabian sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over rest parts of western Himalayan region and some parts of Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, rest northeastern States, Tamilnadu and Kerala.
♦ The western disturbance as an upper air system over Jammu & Kashmir and neighbourhood is moving away eastwards.
♦ The fresh western disturbance would affect western Himalayan region and adjoining plains of northwest India from tomorrow onwards.
♦ The upper air cyclonic circulation over southeast and adjoining southwest Arabian Sea in lower levels has become less marked.
♦ The trough extending from east Bihar to northeast Bay of Bengal now extends from SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim to north Bay of Bengal in lower levels.
