Weather News India 22 August 2012 Climate Monsoon Report Forecast


♦ Rainfall occurred at most places over Himachal Pradesh, west Uttar
Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at many places over Haryana,
Delhi, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal
and northeastern states; at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir, east
Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra and Odisha and at
one or two places over rest parts of the country outside west
Rajasthan, north Gujarat, Marathwada, south Andhra Pradesh and
interior Karnataka where weather remained mainly dry. The chief
amounts of rainfall ( 3 cm and above) recorded at 1730 hours IST of
yesterday were: Canning and Agra9 each, Satna and Orai7 each, Hutbay
and Jammu5 each, Cherrapunji, Maya Bandar, Guna, Haldia, Diamond
Harbour and Portblair4 each and Pachmarhi, Delhi, Agartala, Bankura,
Noncowry and Dhubri3 each.
♦ The southwest monsoon was active over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam &
Meghalaya, SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh,
Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi & Chandigarh and west Madhya Pradesh
during past 24 hours ending at 0830 hours IST of 21st August.
♦ CLOUDS: Kalpana1: Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective
clouds over parts of northwest & central India, Bihar, SubHimalayan
West Bengal & Sikkim, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, southeast Bay
of Bengal and Andaman Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over rest parts
of the country.
