Current weather conditions
1. East-west shear zone near 7°N over North Indian Ocean.
2. Persistence convection over Maldives-comorin area.
3. Strong southwesterly winds prevailing over Maldives-comorin area and over south Bay of Bengal (35-40 kmph) during past 3 days.
Advance of Monsoon
With the above favorable conditions, Southwest monsoon has further advanced into some parts of south Arabian Sea, some more parts of Maldive & Comorin areas and southwest Bay of Bengal

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Lat 7.0° N/ Long. 65.0° E, Lat 7.0° N/ Long. 70.0° E, Lat 7.0° N/ Long. 76.0° E, Lat 8.0° N/Long. 80.0° E, Puttalam (Sri Lanka), Lat 10.0° N/ Long. 86.0° E, Lat 14.0° N/ Long. 91.0° E and Lat 16.0oN/ Long. 96.0° E
