TEMPERATURES: Yesterday maximum temperatures rose by 24° C over many parts of Jammu & Kashmir; by 25° C over many parts of Himachal Pradesh, isolated pockets of Orissa, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, northwest Assam and Meghalaya; fell by 29° C over some parts of northeast Assam and Arunachal Pradesh; by 24° C over some parts of Haryana, north Rajasthan, Delhi, isolated pockets of Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, coastal Karnatka, north interior Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Sub Himalayan West Bengal and changed a little elsewhere. They were below normal by 25° C over many parts of Rajasthan and interior Karnatka; some parts of interior Gujarat; isolated pockets of west Uttar Pradesh, northwest Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and northeast Assam; above normal by 23° C over some parts of east Orissa; isolated pockets of Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand and near normal over rest parts of the country. The highest Maximum temperature of 42.8°C was recorded at Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) in the plains of the country.

RAINFALL : Rainfall occured at many places over Arunachal Pradesh; at a few places over Assam and at one or two places over north Rajasthan, interior Karnatka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) recorded at 1730 hours IST of today are: Deomali5, Itanagar Dibrugarh, Dhubri, Coochbehar and Valprai1 each.

CLOUDS: Kalpana1 Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over some parts of northeastern States, south Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over rest parts of the country outside east Uttar Pradesh , Bihar and Gujarat.
