Monsoon News:

The Northern Limit of Monsoon continue to pass through Lat.5.0°N/Long.85.0°E, Lat.9.0°N/Long.90.0°E, Hut Bay, Lat.12.0°N/Long.95.0°E and Lat.14.0°N/Long.98.0°E. Conditions continue to remain favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of south Bay of Bengal and remaining parts of Andaman Sea during next 48 hours.

Main Weather News:

  TEMPERATURES: Yesterday, heat wave conditions prevailed over some parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, interior Orissa and isolated pockets of southwest Rajasthan and Telangana. No significant change has been observed in minimum temperatures over the country during past 24 hours. They are above normal by 23° C over some parts of Western Himalayan Region, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Telangana and West Bengal & Sikkim and isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Marathwada and near normal over rest parts of the country.

  RAINFALL: Rainfall has occurred at most places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Arunachal Pradesh; at many places over Assam & Meghalaya and Sikkim and at one or two places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, South Chhattisgarh, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu and Kerala. Weather remained dry to mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are: Passighat8, Itanagar7, North Lakhimpur, Hut Bay and Nan Cowry6 each, Dibrugarh4, Tezpur, Car Nicobar, Majbat, Cherrapunji3 each, Half Long, Long Islands, Golaghat and Kalingapattinam2 each and Goalpara, Dhubri and Jorhat1each.

CLOUDS: Kalpana1 Cloud imagery at 0830 hours IST shows convective clouds over many parts of south & adjoining central Bay of Bengal and some parts of Andaman Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over some parts of Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and northeastern States.
