Monsoon News: Conditions are becoming favourable for advance of southwest monsoon over Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal during next 23 days.
 
RAINFALL CONDITIONS : Rainfall occurred at many places over Jammu & kashmir; at a few places over SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and at one or two places over Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Orissa, north interior Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Valparai and Madurai1 each.
 
TEMPERATURES OF INDIAN STATES: As per yesterday's maximum temperatures, heat wave conditions are prevailing over parts of Vidarbha and Telangana and isolated pockets of southeast Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, northeast Madhya Pradesh and north coastal Orissa. Yesterday, maximum temperatures rose by 23° C over isolated pockets of Bihar and north coastal Orissa; fell by 25° C over some parts of Jammu & Kashmir and some parts of Himachal Pradesh and by 23° C over some parts of Gangetic West Bengal and interior Karnataka and changed little elsewhere. They were above normal by 25° C over some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, SubHimalayan West Bengal, northeastern states, Orissa, Vidarbha and Telangana and by 23° C over many parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and rest Maharashtra and some parts of Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Tamilnadu and below normal by about 2°C over some parts of Saurashtra & Kutch and near normal over rest parts of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 47.0°C was recorded at Chandrapur (Maharashtra).

 

CLOUDS: Kalpana1 Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over some parts of Jammu & Kashmir, SubHimalayan West Bengal, Kerala, south Andaman Sea, northeast, central & south Bay of Bengal, Comorin area and southeast Arabian Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over rest parts of the country outside Rajasthan, Gangetic West Bengal and Gujarat.
