TEMPERATURES: Yesterday, maximum temperatures rose by 23° c over many parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Orissa; fell by 48°c over some parts of Arunachal Pradesh, northeast Assam and south Tamilnadu and by 23° c over some parts of west Rajasthan and south Kerala and changed little elsewhere. They were above normal by 35° c cover many parts of West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand and coastal Orissa and by 23° c over some parts of Tamilnadu; below normal by 48° c over many parts of west Rajasthan and northeast Assam and by 23° c over some parts of southwest Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, east Rajasthan, Gujarat State, west Madhya Pradesh, north interior Karnataka, south Tamilnadu and south Kerala and near normal over rest of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 43.8°c was recorded at Rentachintala (Andhra Pradesh) in the country.

RAINFALL: Rain/thundershowers occurred at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, northeastern states, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and at one or two places over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Orissa. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Pamban3, Madurai2, and Salem, Thiruvananthapuram and Balasore1 each.

CLOUDS: Kalpana1 Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of east Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Kerala, coastal Tamilnadu, southeast Arabian Sea, Comorin area and south Bay of Bengal. Low/medium clouds are seen over western Himalayan region, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh,

rest northeastern states, Chhattisgarh, and east & rest south peninsular India.
