MAIN WEATHER OBSERVATIONS OF INDIA ON 19 OCTOBER 2011:

♦ The withdrawal line of southwest monsoon continues to pass through Lat. 22.0°N / Long. 93.0°E, Balasore, Keongjhargarh, Raipur, Akola, Malegaon, Dahanu, Lat. 20.0°N / Long. 70.0°E and Lat. 20.0°N / Long. 60.0°E.

♦ From 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today, fairly widespread rainfall has occured over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar islands; scattered over Arunachal Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra and isolated over Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Gujarat region, west Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Konkan & Goa, Marathawada, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka. Weather remained mainly dry over rest of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (1 cm and above) recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are: Valprai-6, Lengpui and Udhagamandalam-5 each, Bhagalpur, Chennai (Air Port) and Kodaikanal-2 each and Rentachintala, Chennai, Agathi and Maya Bandar-1 each.

♦ Minimum temperatures are above normal by 2-4°C over many parts of south Rajasthan, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, northeastern states, Gujarat, west Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha and by 2-3°C over some parts of Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra and below normal by 2-4°C over isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Orissa. They are near normal over rest of the country. The lowest minimum temperature of 14.2°C has been recorded at Pendra (Chhattisgarh) in plains of the country.
