MAIN WEATHER OBSERVATIONS OF FORECAST FOR 20 OCTOBER 2011 IN INDIA:

1) The withdrawal line of southwest monsoon continues to pass through Lat. 22.0°N / Long. 93.0°E, Balasore, Keongjhargarh, Raipur, Akola, Malegaon, Dahanu, Lat. 20.0°N / Long. 70.0°E and Lat. 20.0°N / Long. 60.0°E.

2) From 0830-1730 hours IST of yesterday, fairly widespread rainfall occured over Gangetic West Bengal and isolated over Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, coastal Orissa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (1 cm and above) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Panagarh-6, Valprai-4, Chennai, Coimbatore and Malegaon-1 each.

3) Maximum temperatures were above normal by 2-4°C over many parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala and by 2-3°C over some parts of north eastern states, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. They were near normal over rest parts of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 39.0°C was recorded at Deesa(Gujarat) in plains of the country.
