MAIN WEATHER OBSERVATIONS:
♦ The withdrawal line of monsoon continues to pass through Lat. 27.0°N / Long. 84.0°E, Balia, Umaria, Jabalpur, Indore, Baroda, Veraval, Lat. 21.0°N / Long. 65.0°E and Lat. 21.0°N / Long. 60.0°E.
♦ Due to available of high moisture contents in atmosphere the monsoon is not likely to withdraw further from eastern parts of the country and remaining parts of central India during next 2 days.
♦ From 0830 to 1730 hours IST of today, fairly widespread rainfall has occured over Jammu & Kashmir; scattered over coastal Orissa and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and isolated over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, northwest Rajasthan, east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal & Sikkim, northeastern states, Jharkhand, interior Orissa, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, interior Karnataka and Tamilnadu. Weather remained mainly dry over remaining parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (1 cm and above) recorded at 1730 hours IST of today are: Agumbe, Paradip and Maya Bandar-3 each and Baderwah, Puri, Chennai, Coonoor and Port Blair-1 each.
♦ Maximum temperatures are above normal by 2-3°C over many parts of Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, northeastern states, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamilnadu; below normal by 2-3°C over many parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Kutch and isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh and southwest Rajasthan and near normal over rest parts of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 38.6°C has been recorded at Palayankottai (Tamilnadu) in the country.
Satellite Observations:
♦ Kalpana-1 cloud imagery at 1730 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of west Jammu & Kashmir, coastal West Bengal, Orissa, southwest Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka, Tamilnadu, northeast & central Bay of Bengal and east central Arabian Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over remaining parts of the country outside south Punjab, Haryana, west Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh.
