Monsoon Watch :

♦ The withdrawal line of monsoon continues to pass through Lat. 27.0°N / Long. 84.0°E, Balia, Umaria,
Jabalpur, Indore, Baroda, Veraval, Lat. 21.0°N / Long. 65.0°E and Lat. 21.0°N / Long. 60.0°E.

♦ Due to high moisture content in atmosphere the monsoon is not likely to withdraw further from
eastern parts of the country and remaining parts of central India during next 1­-2 days.

Main Weather Observations:

♦ From 0830­1730 hours IST of yesterday, scattered rainfall occured over Andaman & Nicobar islands; isolated
over Assam & Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, south Maharashtra, south
interior Karnataka and Tamilnadu. Weather remained mainly dry over remaining parts of the country. The chief
amounts of rainfall (1 cm and above) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Ratnagiri and Hut Bay­-3
each, Shillong and Bangalore(Airport)­-2 each and Mana and Durg­-1 each.

♦ Maximum temperatures were above normal by 2­-3°C over many parts of the country except Punjab,
Haryana, west Rajasthan, Gujarat and western Himalayan region where they were near normal. The highest
maximum temperature of 39.5°C was recorded at Palayankottai(Tamilnadu) in plains of the country.
