Weather News India 4 September 2013 Rainfall Forecast Report


♦ Southwest monsoon was vigorous over Bihar and active over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Sub­Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal and South Interior Karnataka.

RAINFALL: Rain/thundershowers  occurred at many places  over  east India and Kerala;  at  a  few places  over northeastern  states,   Chhattisgarh  and Lakshadweep and at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (2 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST   of   yesterday   were:   Bagdogra­5,   Valparai   and   Bhagalpur­4   each;   Passighat,   Cherrapunji,   Patna, Daltonganj and Nedumbassery­3 each; Anantapur, Cochin, Jharsuguda, Pendra and Champa­2 each.

TEMPERATURES:  Yesterday, maximum temperatures were   below normal by 2­3°C   some parts of Jammu & Kashmir, east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and south Chhattisgarh. They were above normal by   2­3°C over many parts of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab,  Madhya Pradesh and interior Maharashtra and  near normal
over rest parts of the country.

♦  Kalpana­1: Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over some parts of Bihar, Sub­Himalayan West Bengal, west Assam,   south Andhra Pradesh, Interior Karnataka, north Tamilnadu, central parts of Bay of Bengal, south Andaman Sea and southeast Arabian sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over some parts of western Himalayan region, east Uttar Pradesh;  rest east, northeast and peninsular India.
