♦ Yesterday, southwest monsoon was vigorous over west Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat and active over Assam & Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and east Uttar Pradesh.

RAINFALL: Rain/thundershowers occurred at most places over Gujarat; at many places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Konkan & Goa; at a few places over coastal Karnataka and Arunachal Pradesh and isolated places  over west Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya and Vidarbha. Weather remained mainly dry/ dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (2 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Okha­27; Dwarka­9; Rajkot­ 8; Nalia­7; Porbandar and Kandla ­4 each; Surendranagar, Bhuj and Deesa­ 2 each.

TEMPERATURES: Maximum temperatures were below normal by 2­10°C at many places over Gujarat and west Rajasthan. They were above normal by 2­4°C   at many places over Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at a few places over eastern and northeastern states and nearly normal over remaining parts of the country.

♦  Kalpana­1: Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over some parts of Jammu division of   Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam & Meghalaya,   Saurashtra & Kutch, northwest Arabian Sea and north & adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal. Low/medium clouds are seen over
rest parts of the country outside Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
