♦ RAINFALL (from 0830 hours IST yesterday to 0830 hours IST today):
Rainfall has occurred at most places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands,
Assam & Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh; at a few places over Konkan &
Goa and one or two places over rest parts of the country outside Jammu
& Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, west Rajasthan, Bihar, Kerala and
Lakshadweep where weather remained mainly dry. The chief amounts of
rainfall (3 cm and above) recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are:
Cherrapunji41, Passighat18, Dhubri17, Mayabandar and Nancowry8 each,
Dibrugarh, Carnicobar, Itanagar and Majbat6 each, Mumbai and
Balurghat5 each, Harnai, Cooch Bihar, Goalpara4 each and Paradeep,
Malda, Jhansi, Arogyavaram, Long Island, Hut Bay, Deomali and Rangia3
each.
♦ CLOUDS: Kalpana1: Cloud imagery at 0830 hours IST shows convective
clouds over parts of SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Arunachal
Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura,
Odisha and parts of southeast Bay of Bengal. Low/medium clouds are
seen over rest parts of the country outside Punjab and Haryana and
west Rajasthan.
♦ The southwest monsoon was vigorous over SubHimalayan West Bengal &
Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh during the past 24 Hrs
ending at 0830 Hrs IST of today.
♦ Satellite imagery and surface observation indicate considerable
decrease in moisture over extreme west Rajasthan, west Haryana and
Punjab making conditions conducive for withdrawal of Southwest monsoon
from West Rajasthan and adjoining areas around 24th September.
