TEMPERATURES: As per yesterday's maximum temperatures, heat wave conditions are prevailing over parts of east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and north Orissa and isolated pockets of Gangetic West Bengal, south Andhra Pradesh and north coastal Tamilnadu. Minimum temperatures rose by 26° C over some parts of Rajasthan and by 23° C over some parts of east Uttar Pradesh, northeast madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal; fell by about 2°C over some parts of Assam and changed little elsewhere. They are above normal by 23° C over many parts of western Himalayan region, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi and some parts of northeast & southwest Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal & Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand Orissa, north Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamilnadu; below normal by 23° C over some parts of northwest Rajasthan and Assam and near normal over rest parts of the country.

RAINFALL : Rainfall has occurred at most places over Jammu & Kashmir and Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at many places over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh and at one or places over east Rajasthan, West Bengal & Sikkim, Chhattisgarh Orissa, south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are: Long Island8, Kailashar and Port Blair3 each, Kupwara2 and Srinagar, Cherrapunji, Lumding, Berhampore and Maya Bandar1 each.

CLOUDS: Kalpana1 Cloud imagery at 0830 hours IST shows convective clouds over some parts of Andaman Sea, eastcentral & southeast Bay of Bengal and south Arabian Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over parts of western Himalayan region, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, SubHimalayan West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya and south peninsular India.
