TEMPERATURES: Yesterday heat wave conditions prevailed over some parts of Bihar and coastal Orissa and isolated pockets of north Rajasthan and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Yesterday maximum temperatures rose by 34° C over some parts of Arunachal Pradesh and east Assam and by 23° C over some parts of western Himalayan region and west Uttar Pradesh and isolated pockets of east Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh. They were above normal by 45° C over some parts of east India; by 23° C over western Himalayan region, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, northeastern states and Andhra Pradesh. The highest maximum temperature of 45.7°C was recorded at Ganganagar (Rajasthan) in the country.
RAINFALL: Rain/thundershowers occurred at one or two places over northeastern states and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
CLOUDS: Kalpana1 Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over some parts of west Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, west Rajasthan, Andaman sea and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal. Low/medium clouds are seen over remaining parts of the country outside Gujarat and Maharashtra.
