TEMPERATURES: Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are prevailing over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, north Chattisgarh, Gujarat and north Maharashtra and at isolated pockets of Bihar and Jharkhand.

Minimum temperatures fell by 47° C over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, east Madhya Pradesh and north Chattisgarh, rose by 25° C over Himachal Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. They are below normal by 36° C over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Utter Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar; by 48° C Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and north Maharashtra; by 23° C over Jammu & kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, north Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The stations in the plains of the country, where minimum temperatures remained 4.0°C or below are:

RAINFALL : Rain/snowfall occured at a few places over Himachal Pradesh and at one or two places of Uttrakhand. Rainfall occured at most places over Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland at a few places over Assam and at one or two places over Tamilnadu and Kerala. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are: Golaghat and Palayankottai1 each.

CLOUDS: Kalpana1 cloud imagery at 0830 hours IST shows convective clouds over some parts of Jammu & Kashmir, northeastern states and southeast Arabian Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over peninsular India.
