Weather Report Sri Lanka 27 December 2011 Climate Forecast

The cyclonic storm in the South-West Bay of Bengal was centered about 750km East of Jaffna at 08.00 am today and it is likely to move North-westward from its center. Rain, very strong winds and very rough seas will continue to prevail in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Batticaloa via Jaffna and Trincomalee.
Therefore, these seas are still not safe for naval and fishing activities. Especially the deep sea areas of these coasts will also experience intermittent rain and further advise to refrain from maritime activities. Scattered showers accompanied by strong winds will prevail at times in the Eastern, Northern and North-central provinces. A few showers may also occur elsewhere of the island.
