HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012
♦ TEMPERATURES: Maximum temperatures were below normal by 45°C over parts of south peninsular India, 23 °C over parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat region. They were above normal by 24°C over parts of western Himalayan region, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, north Chattisgarh, Bihar, interior Maharashtra and northeastern states. The highest maximum temperature of 35.5°C was recorded at Bhira (Maharashtra) in the coastal areas of the country.♦ RAINFALL : Rainfall occurred at many places over Kerala and Lakshadweep; at a few places over south & coastal Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarh and at one or two places over Tamilnadu and Madhya Pradesh. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Kavali5, Minicoy2, Cochin, Nellore, Visakapatnam, Coinmbatore and Sagar1 each.
♦ CLOUDS: Kalpana1 Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of southeast Arabian sea and Uttar Pradesh. Low/medium clouds are seen over parts of western Himalayan region, remaining parts of northwest India, central India and rest peninsular India and northeastern states.
