♦ Meteorological conditions are becoming favourable for the commencement of northeast monsoon
rain over south peninsular India around 24th October.
Main Weather Observations:
♦ From 0830 to 1730 hours IST of today, rainfall/snowfall has occured at one or two places over Jammu &
Kashmir and Uttarakhand. Rainfall has occured at many places over Lakshadweep; at a few places over
Gangetic West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Tamilnadu and at one or
two places over SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Orissa, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra
Pradesh and Kerala. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (1
cm and above) recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are: Balasore8, Canning7, Tiruchchirapalli2 and Kolkata
(Alipore), Barisal, Digha and Kavaratti1 each.
♦ Maximum temperatures are above normal by 23°C over many parts of central Rajasthan, south Gujarat,
south Madhya Pradesh and peninsular India and below normal by 23°C over isolated pockets of Jammu &
Kashmir, north Haryana, Bihar, SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and northeastern states. They are near
normal over remaining parts of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 38.5°C has been recorded at
Surendranagar (Gujarat) in the country.
♦ Kalpana1 cloud imagery at 1730 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of Jammu & Kashmir, north interior
Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu, central and south Bay of Bengal, south Andaman Sea and eastcentral & south Arabian Sea.
Low/medium clouds are seen over remaining parts of the country outside Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya
Pradesh north Chhattisgarh and north Maharashtra.
