Monsoon Watch:

♦ The withdrawal line of monsoon continues to pass through Lat. 27.0°N / Long. 84.0°E, Balia,Umaria,Jabalpur, Indore, Baroda, Veraval, Lat. 21.0°N / Long. 65.0°E and Lat. 21.0°N / Long. 60.0°E.


Main Weather Observations:

♦ From 0830 to 1730 hours IST of today, isolated rainfall has occured over Himachal Pradesh,east Uttar
Pradesh, northeastern states, east Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Konkan &
Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The
chief amounts of rainfall (1 cm and above) recorded at 1730 hours IST of today are: Bhubaneshwar, Paradip
and Puri 2 each and Satna, Jamshedpur and Dharwad­1 each.
♦ Maximum temperatures are above normal by 2­4°C over most parts of Sub­Himalayan West Bengal and
northeastern states and by 2­4°C over many parts of north Maharashtra and south peninsular India; below
normal by 2°C over many parts of Rajasthan and Kutch and near normal elsewhere in the country. The
highest maximum temperature of 39.1°C has been recorded at Palayankottai (Tamilnadu) in the country.
♦ Kalpana­1 cloud imagery at 1730 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of northwest Jammu &
Kashmir and north, adjoining central & southeast Bay of Bengal. Low/medium clouds are seen over parts of
rest western Himalayan region, Mizoram, Maharashtra and central, east & peninsular India.
