♦ TEMPERATURES: Maximum temperatures fell by 46°C over western Himalayan region and Punjab and by 23°C over Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and central & east India and changed little elsewhere. They are below normal by 46°C over many parts of western Himalayan region and SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and by 23°C over some parts of east and northeast India. They are above normal by 24°C over some parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 35.0°C has been recorded at Bhira (Maharashtra) and Karwar (Karnataka) in plains of the country.
♦ RAINFALL: Rain/snowfall has occured at most places over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand. Rainfall has occured at a few places over Punjab, north Haryana and Andaman & Nicobar islands and at one or places over North Rajasthan. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) recorded at 1730 hours IST of today are: Carnicobar4, Banihal, Kupwara, Shimla and Sundernagar3 each; Kupwara, Katra, Batote, Jammu,Bhuntar, Kalpa, Solan and Amritsar 2 each and Qazigund, Baderwah, Pahalgaon, Kukernag, Ludhiana, Dharmshala, Una Manali, Tehri and Chandigarh 1 each.
♦ CLOUDS: Kalpana1 Cloud imagery at 1730 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of western Himalayan region, southeast Bay of Bengal and south Andaman sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over parts of rest western Himalayan region, Punjab, Haryana, north Rajasthan, extreme south peninsular India and Arunachal Pradesh.
