Weather Report India 09 January 2012:

Minimum temperature  fell by 2­5°C over  many parts of   Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat region and isolated pockets of East Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh and interior Maharashtra. They are above normal by 5­8°C over  some parts  of east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa, Telangana, Mizoram and Tripura, by 3­4°C over some parts of Haryana, east Rajasthan, west Uttar  Pradesh and Bihar. They are near  normal over  rest parts of the country. The lowest minimum temperature of 1.8°C has been recorded at Bhatinda (Punjab) in plains of the country.
♦   RAINFALL:  Rain/snow has occurred over at many places over western Himalayan region. Light to moderate rainfall has occurred at a few places over north Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand and at one or two places over Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gangetic West Bengal. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are: Kolkata (Dum­Dum)­3, Una and Dharamshala­2 each and  Shimla, Batote, Kupwara, Chandigarh, Kukernag, Banihal, Shantiniketan, Canning , Diamond Harbour and Barisal­1 each.
♦  CLOUDS: Kalpana­1 Cloud imagery at 1430 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of   east Jammu & Kashmir,   Jharkhand and southeast Arabian Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over parts of  rest western Himalayan region and northwest, central, east  & extreme south peninsular India.
