♦ TEMPERATURES: Maximum temperatures were below normal by 59° C over many parts of Tamilnadu and isolated pockets of south interior Karnataka and by 24° C over some parts of south Andhra Pradesh and isolated pockets of Haryana, Delhi, south Rajasthan, Gujarat region, Madhya Pradesh, interior Maharashtra, Bihar and Chhattisgarh. They were above normal by 24°C over northeastern states, SubHimalayan West Bengal and western Himalayan region and near normal over rest parts of the country. The highest maximum temperatures of 35.8°C was recorded at Bhuj (Gujarat) in the plains of the country.
♦ RAINFALL : Rainfall occurred at most places over Tamilnadu; at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema; at a few places over Kerala and at one or two places over south interior Karnataka and Telengana. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (1 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Cuddalore7, Puducherry6, K. Paramathy, Tiruchchirapalli, Nellore, Nagapattinam and Tirupathi5 each, Kavali, Karaikal, Attiramapattinam and Vedaranniyam4 each, Vellore, Tiruppattur, Ongole and Arakkonam2 each and Salem, Kakinada, Coimbatore and Kanyakumari1 each.
♦ CLOUDS: Kalpana1: Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over many parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, southwest & westcentral Bay of Bengal, south Andaman sea, comorin area and east Arabian sea and isolated pockets of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and interior Maharashtra . Low/medium clouds are seen over parts of rest central and peninsular India.
♦ The cyclonic storm 'NILAM' moved northwestwards and weaken into a deep depression and further into a depression over Rayalaseema and adjoining south interior Karnataka and lay centred at 0530 hours IST of today, the 01st November, 2012 near latitude 14.0°N and longitude 77.5°E, about 75 km south of Anantapur. The system would move westnorthwestwards and weaken further into a low pressure area during next 12 hours.
♦ The trough of low from Lakshadweep area to eastcentral Arabian Sea off Maharashtra coast is less marked.
