♦ TEMPERATURES: Maximum temperatures were below normal by 46° C over some prats of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab and isolated pockets of west Rajasthan and south Tamilnadu and by 23° C over rest Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab and some parts of south Tamilnadu and isolated pockets of west Rajasthan, Saurashtra & Kutch, north Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Meghalaya. They were above normal by 23° C over some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, west coast, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, south Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and north interior Karnataka and near normal over rest of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 37.8°C was recorded at Banda ( Uttar Pradesh) in plains of the country.
♦ RAINFALL (from 0830 to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): Light rain/ snowfall occurred at many places over Jammu & Kashmir. Light rain/ thundershowers occurred at a few places over Tamilnadu and Lakshadweep and at one or two places over Punjab, Kerala, south interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya and Mizoram. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (1 cm and above) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday was: Tiruchchirapally1.
♦ CLOUDS: Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of Jammu & Kashmir, south Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and southeast Arabian sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over parts of rest western Himalayan region and rest peninsular India.
♦ The trough from Nagaland to Tamilnadu in lower levels persists.
♦ The upper air cyclonic circulation over Tamilnadu and neighbourhood between 1.5 and 3.1 above mean sea levels persists.
♦ The upper air cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep and neighbourhood in lower levels also persists.
♦ The western disturbance over north Pakistan and neighbourhood as an upper air system persists.
♦ The withdrawal line continues to pass through Gangtok, Malda, Bankura, Keonjhargarh, Koraput, Hyderabad , Gadag, Karwar, Lat. 15.0° N / Long. 60.0° E and Lat. 15.0° N / Long. 70.0° E.
♦ Conditions are favourable for further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from remaining parts of the county during next 23 days.
♦ Conditions are also becoming favourable for commencement of northeast monsoon rains over Tamilnadu, Kerala and adjoining areas of Andhra Pradesh & Karnataka around 18th 19th October.
